Would like to share how we fixed a recent problem with the Collector Plugin.

Issue:
Collector/Interpret Service was running but the emails were not being picked up from the Input folder.
It would work for an hour or two and would end up idle again.

Checked the logs and found the error below:

'RSMAPI.GetAttachments(1) failed, Reason:Your server administrator has limited the number of items you can open simultaneously'

According to our Exchange Server team, the limit is 250 'objects' and cannot be increased without impacting the performance of other RPCs in the server.

after a few weeks of seemingly unsuccessful investigation, I decided to just create new Input plugins using IMAP connection.

Interpret started running smoothly again right after.

Hello,

With MAPI, you need Outllok to be installed on the server (and the IT are not fond of it). Furtermore, it's not working well (if at all) when you have several mailboxes.

IMAP is working well but the IT very often consider it is not a secured connection...

A hot fix publised last year (sorry/ I don't remenber which) created a new connection mode: EWS (stands for Exchange Web Service ; of course, it won't do with a Lotus Notes server).
I've been using it for all my customer ever since and it happens to be very reliable. I really recommend it.

Best regards,

Nicolás

Hello,

Thanks for your inputs. I was wondering if you would be aware if IMAP could cause our problem below.

We've encountered an issue with an email having about 30 invoices.
Interpret would successfully read these invoices but the email itself was not being moved to the Processed folder.
The problem is that Interpret would pick up these invoices again causing duplicate documents in PD.  I tried waiting for the email to be transferred but it just sat there and caused the invoices to be transferred 3 times to PD.

The vendor has been sending emails like this for the past 2 years and this problem only started when I switched to IMAP.

Best Regards,
Ganiel

Hello,

With EWS, the e-mail is first moved to a folder "In process". This would avoid the problem you describe. It's a pity ReadSoft hasn't improved the IMAP implementation the same way.
This sort of problem is always difficult to analyse because we never know for sure if the problems comes from ReadSoft or from the E-Mail Server.
I've got no magic solution for your case. Generally, I tell my customers they should set a maximum size for the e-mails to a low value (2 Mo for instance), to avoid invoices with too many pages or to many invoices on the same e-mail.
