We are running into issues where our verifiers are not logging out so when other verifiers try to log on they are blocked as all licences are used up.

The verifiers are in multiple locations making it difficult to manage.

Does anyone have experience of this?

Is there a way to kick users off the system if they have not been active in verify for a period of time (say 30 minutes)?

Thanks for any advice!

Hi.

As far as I know there is no way to auto-logoff users after some inactive time. We had the same problems two years ago, and did three actions to fix the problem:

* Educate your users. This is the most important. Educate your users to logoff when they finish verifying. You can check who's consuming licenses through the license manager, and you can see when the use started. Personalized messages are very effective, when you tell someone "there are other users that can't logon because you're consuming a license since two days ago" that user won't forget to logoff next time.

* If you immediately need to release licenses, you can restart the license server, that will reléase all licenses.

* We have a server to which all our users get connected to user Verify. kicking users out of this server or closing the eiveri process in that server will also release a license, but this is a solution only valid if your users also get connected to verify through the same server.

Hope that helps.

Hey can you give me specific instruction on how and where the license manager is?  I new to verify and I looked around and not sure if I have access.  Thank you for your help.

Hello,

You licence manager is usually located on the server where you run the services INTERPRET and TRANSFER. But it can be located somewhere else and I have no tip to locate it.
Once you are on the right server, it's easy: it will always be on c:\flexlm\lmtools.exe (when you install this software, you cannot chose the installation folder).

You can find the license server by navigating to the GlobalPath and opening the license.dat file in that location.  The name of the license server will be located on the SERVER line there.
