Has anyone found that some .pdf's don't go thru COLLECTOR very well??  Are there some restrictions around file names, file name lengths, special characters in file names?  What are these restrictions?

Hi Annie
When you say that don't go through very well, are they:

1.  Not read at all and being dropped into the error folder
2.  The image is distorted once it reaches Veriy
3.  The image is blank?

Kind regards

They either get dropped into the error folder, where AP staff have a tough time deciphering what is wrong.  Or, they may get into Verify but, for one example, a 3 page invoices come thru as page 1, 3X.  I'm trying to help the AP folks and to devleop some parameters for our vendors with regard to the format of the invoices they send us....  Currently we only accept .pdf....

Hi Annie
We did have an issue with a lot of invoices going into the error folder and found it was due to image files being embedded in the email as well as the PDF.  In Collector configuration settings we changed the allowable file types and this resolved the problem.
Regards

We also found that some invoices get distorted as they are being interpreted.  This is to do with the PDF creation software that the vendor has used.
I set up mail rules to automatically move PDFs of the known problem vendors into a "to be printed and scanned" folder.
To put this into perspective, we have 2000+ active vendors and had the issue of distorted images on about 6 of them.  I have since run the same images through Collector in an Invoices 5-8 system and the images are not being distorted.
You could try to increase your Patch level rather than do an upgrade.  As Readsoft become aware of problematic PDF's they incorporate fixes for them.

Also, I don't think Readsoft will ever achieve 100% interpretation of all PDF creation software as it would be a bit like chasing a moving target.
We just need to find a workaround for the few troublesome PDFs.

Hi Annie,
There are so many that I think it would be easier to work out which PDF creation software Readsoft has problems with.

When we went through this exercise, we found that a particular version of Filemaker Pro (I think 10) that caused problems.

To get a list of the troublesome PDF creation programs you would:

1.  Save a copy of all your troublesome PDFs into a specific folder.  Say they are interpreted however the image gets distorted as it moves to Verify
2.  Do a search in your images folder (see post on Emailed images coming in blank) for file sizes <3 kb

If you are finding there are a lot of troublesome PDFs then a setting might need to be changed in your eiglobal file.
For example, from memory we moved our ThresholdMethod to 6 at the suggestion of a Readsoft consultant.  Therefore if there a more than just a handful, then contact your local Readsoft support desk and confirm you have the right eiglobal settings.
Cheers
